Friends of the Ochils AGM 2001

The Annual General Meeting of the
Friends of the Ochils will be held on
Thursday 1 November 2001, at 7pm
in Alloa Town Hall. Be there!

The FotO AGM will be held in Alloa Town Hall on Thursday 1 November, 2001, at 7pm. The first part of the meeting will, as usual, be taken up with the business: reports, amendments to the constitution, appointment of office bearers. Members are reminded that any motions should be in the hands of the secretary by Wednesday 17 October.

Members will, we hope, be impressed with the slideshow on Menstrie Glen, to be given by Robin Kelsall during the second part of the evening. We also hope to be able to demonstrate the new FotO website, technology permitting.

Proposed amendments to the constitution

The following amendments will be put to the AGM on 1 November. The amendments to clauses 15 and 16 are intended to simplify the running of the organisation. The amendment to clause 22 regularises what has become a common practice at AGMs - that of inviting further nominations from the floor.

Proposed deletions are shown scored through and insertions underlined.

Executive committee

15 The general management of the affairs of the Association shall be directed by an executive committee which shall meet not less than four two times a year, and shall consist of not more than 15 10 elected members, among whom shall be the following Office Bearers: Chairperson, Vice-Chairperson, Secretary, Treasurer, Membership Secretary and Publicity Officer. Any of these offices may be combined at the discretion of the Association. The members of the Executive Committee shall be elected at the Annual General Meeting.

16 ... The quorum at any meeting of the Executive Committee shall be fixed at four three members, one of whom must be the Chairperson or Treasurer.

Nomination to executive committee

22 Nominations must be in writing and in the hands of the Secretary at least 14 days in advance of the meeting. Should nominations exceed vacancies, elections shall be by ballot, the arrangements for which shall be by a straight majority, with the Chairperson having the casting vote. Should vacancies exceed nominations, nominations for remaining vacancies can be made at the meeting.
