Friends of the Ochils Newsletter 22: Spring 2003

Parish notices

A couple of parish notices. The Woodland Trust is holding another of its "Get Out, Get About" days, with "tree planting and guided walks to celebrate the creation of a new native woodland". This will be held on Saturday 26 April in the WT's recent acquisition, Glen Sherup off the west side of the A823 Glen Devon road. Admission is of course free - it's an out-in-the-fresh-air event after all - and the programme is as follows:

10:30-11am Arrival
11am Launch of new native woodland
11:15 onwards Tree planting
12:30pm Start of 3km walk
1pm Start of 7km walk

Bring sensible clothes and footwear and your own spade if you want to plant a tree. Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Dogs on leads only. Food and refreshments available. Parking available just beyond Wester Glensherup Farm.

For more information phone the Woodland Trust on 01764 662554 or write to them at Glenruthven Mill, Abbey Rd, Auchterarder, Perthshire, PH3 1DP

And the committee of Friends of the Ochils would like to ask all members to join them in wishing David Robertson a very happy retirement. David recently stood down from the committee - on which he variously served as secretary, minutes secretary and Mr Publicity - after having been at the hub of operations for ten years, ever since FotO started up in March 1993. No one has worked harder for this group.

He will be much missed at committee meetings, but he won't become a stranger to us of course - we wouldn't allow that - and he remains a member of FotO and will continue to contribute to, and assist with the production of, this newsletter. If there was an Ochils medal, David Robertson would merit a gold one. As it is, he receives our considerable thanks.
