IT’S THAT TIME AGAIN…
Notice of Friend’s of the Ochils Annual General Meeting

Our AGM will take place at 7.00pm on Tuesday 30 October in the Tommy Downs Room, Alloa Town Hall. The agenda and annual report are enclosed with this newsletter. As always, the formal business will be dealt with as expeditiously as possible, and will be followed by a talk by Ros Mills of the Ochil Hills (sic) and Hillfoots Landscape Partnership, a new initiative on which FotO is represented.

If the Friends of the Ochils is to continue to exist, it is vital we recruit new committee members. In particular, the posts of Treasurer and Membership Secretary will become vacant at the AGM. Increasing work commitments mean that the present incumbent, David Gordon (who combines the two posts) must stand down. At the time of writing, we have no nominations and we would urge anyone interested to talk with David to find out what is required to fulfil these essential roles.

Also, for some years FotO has operated without a Secretary to co-ordinate its administrative affairs. These involve producing ‘action point’ minutes from committee meetings, co-ordinating the annual report and submitting it to the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator, and maintaining the archive of FotO papers. Again, we warmly welcome any nominations.

It is important to note that the jobs aren’t onerous! They require only a small regular commitment of time, with a greater flurry of activity around our financial year end and when membership renewals are due in the autumn. In return, you’ll get the opportunity to learn more about issues that affect the Ochils, be actively involved in their promotion and preservation, and (not least!) join a friendly bunch of people.

It is essential that people come forward for these posts. Without them we cannot function.
