Annul General Meeting
- the details
Friends of
the Ochils' AGM will take place on Tuesday 10th November at 7.00pm in
Alloa Town Hall. In addition to the usual formal business required to
ensure the proper governance of this charity, there will be a discussion
on the draft Policy on the Hills document, circulated with this newsletter.
We are always pleased to have more people join the Committee. Anyone with
an interest in doing so is very welcome to contact Stuart Dean or Nicki
Baker to discuss this, or can put forward their name with the support
of two other members in advance, to the Secretary Dave Prentice.
After the formal business, our speaker will this year be local historian
John Harrison. His topic is 'The Western OchiIs — a historical perspective'.
Some of you may know already that John is an excellent speaker —
lively, fascinating, very well-informed, and really easy for us non-historians
to follow! He was one of the main researchers and authors of Well Sheltered
& Watered — Menstrie Glen, a farming Iandscape nearStirling,
which was published by the Royal Commission on Ancient and Historical
Monuments of Scotland in 2001. This excellent document was the focus of
one of our guided walks this summer. Please do come along!
Membership
renewals
I'm afraid it's that time of year again — our financial year starts
on 1 September, so Individual, Family and Concessionary membership subscriptions
are now due (apart from those paid by standing order at later dates).
Subscriptions for Concessionary members (basically, anyone who is unwaged)
are going up to £3 this year, but Individual and Family memberships
remain, at £5 and £7.50 respectively.
We hope very much that you will want to rejoin. We really do value our
members, and we really need you all, to give as much clout as possible
to our campaigning work.
Standing orders will get paid in automatically by banks, on their due
date. However, if you pay annually (i.e. not by standing order, or through
Life or Group membership) you should find a renewal form enclosed with
this newsletter. Would you please complete this and send with your cheque
to:
