Friends of the Ochils has submitted a response to the Confor consultation on draft guidelines for respectful and constructive engagement in forestry in Scotland. The guidelines, developed by Confor with input from Scottish Forestry, Forestry and Land Scotland, and the Scottish Land Commission, aim to formalise expectations for engagement between the forestry sector and stakeholders including communities, regulators, and special interest groups.
The draft guidelines set out what stakeholders can expect from the sector — including transparent, proportionate and early engagement, clear information, and reasonable time for feedback — and what is expected from stakeholders in return, including providing site-specific, expertise-based input and communicating respectfully.
